He was a member of the Society of Military Painters in late 1913 and approved by the French Army Museum in early December 1914 and appointed painter of the Ministry of War in February 1915

He resumed contact with the group in 1936

The squash blossom necklace features a double strand of Navajo sterling silver beads, strung on cotton thread and has a total of 54 sterling beads (27 to each side) and is punctuated with fourteen squash blossoms inlaid with turquoise, seven on each side. The circular naja features six serrated bezel set turquoise cabochons, the naja is bordered with silver 'rope twist'
