Ancient Persian Khurasan Islamic Engraved Calligraphy Bronze Oil Lamp c.1200 Paintings the sides having corresponding featherbandedA 12th Century Islamic bronze oil lamp, Eastern Persia, Khurasan. The cast bronze body of compressed globular form, raised on a trumpet shaped foot, the hinged cover with a sculpted bird finial and there is a corresponding finial to the loop handle. The lamp having twin spots to receive two wicks and therefore two lights, the top of the lamp decorated with a band of calligraphy, the base with engraved decoration. There is oxidization to the surface
