Brooch attached is gold tone metal with fabric flowers

Once was a briefcase for a traveling salesman. No brand marked, circa the 1940s. Initials "J. C. C." are monogrammed beneath the handle. Has wear at the corners, rip in the lining, and lining is coming apart from the inside see photos for detail.
