Born in Nagano in 1930, the Japanese designer's designs are deeply rooted in the traditional Japanese craft of Nambu Tekki (cast iron), while often incorporating a distinctive and modern sense of humor. Takaoka is located in the Toyama region of Japan, renowned for its cast iron production, which boasts a 400 year history.
