Emerging from the 1948 MoMA competition, the idea of interchangeable bases with the later fiberglass shell became a modern everyday typology from 1950 onwards. Here, a brown Herman Miller shell meets a Vitra rocking chair base. The result is calm and graphic, with the familiar, springy rhythm of a rocking chair. Very good vintage
