Filicinae - Fern Size:30×40 cm Date: 20th centuryThere is something endlessly satisfying about the spiral of an unfurling fern, and this Haeckel plate celebrates it in lush, layered greens. Fronds arc and curl across the sheet, the tightly coiled fiddleheads set against fully opened leaves so that the whole life of the plant seems to play out in a single image. Ernst Haeckel arranged it with the symmetry and density that make his botanical studies so satisfying to look at. The print is part of
